Angler of the Year is based on accumulated points over the entire season. Anglers earn points in each event, regardless of finishing position. These points determine the overall standings for AOY position as well as championship qualification. The points are awarded as follows:

Points are awarded based on a team's finishing position. First place receives the most points with 100. Each subsequent place receives 1 less point than the place preceding it. For example, if 1st gets 100, then 2nd gets 99, 3rd gets 98, etc.

Points are awarded to every participating team, regardless of finishing position. Any tied places will receive the same amount of points. Any teams the have a zero weight will receive the lowest positions points.

Bonus points are awarded to all teams that sign up for an event. An automatic 5 points for participation is awarded to each registered team for an event. Teams that fish all 4 events will receive 20 bonus points over the course of the season.
